Enhancing Soil Nitrogen Availability and Rice Growth by Using Urea Fertilizer Amended with Rice Straw Biochar

Urea fertilizer as a nitrogen source is used widely and globally. However, N loss through ammonia volatilization from applied urea has become major drawback to agriculture. A pot experiment was conducted determine the effect of rice straw biochar on (1) total N, soil exchangeable NH4+, available NO3− (2) uptake P, K in plants. The treatments evaluated were: (S: Soil only, U: + 175 kg ha−1 urea, B1: 5 t biochar, B2: 10 CB1: 50% commercial potting media CB2: 100% media). addition at 5–10 significantly increased availability by 33.33–46.67%. Treatments B1 B2 also had NO3−, over U. nutrients increment attributed higher adsorption capacity biochar. Increment nutrient such plant height, tiller number, greenness, panicle number because effective absorption. This resulted dry matter production line with use efficiency. Rice can improve productivity plants increasing retention soil.
